Squirrels........They are so cute!

This is tigger and Lola. They reside now in squirrel haven in my daddy's woods! this picture was taken with a motion camera.

My Daddy's wife raised these squirrels to adulthood. She released them in the back of their woods in what is now known as squirrel haven.

This has been a very fast paced week. I was able to meet my deadlines for my classes. Now it is time to begin again......... My sister has been home from school and work for two weeks. I have enjoyed her and this has enabled me to meet my deadlines as she has watched the baby.(her daughter, my neice.) Also her other daughter, (teenager) left to go and visit her Daddy for a few weeks. We will miss her.

The gardens are lush and beautiful but not producing very much food yet. I have many blooms so I am in hopes of reaping an abundant harvest, God willing.

Today a friend visited from Texas. We have been close friends with this family since 1998. It is always good to see them. This friend was on the way to a TDY in Charleston and was able to bring all my daughters things from her storage building in Witchita falls. She hasn't seen these things since August , 2007.......long story......happy ending!

I am very happy to be able to rest! Praise the Lord!! I plan to sleep late in the morning, God willing.

God is teaching me so many things. I long for the words to express what is happening inside me.........

Plan Your Work And Work Your Plan

Dear Friends and Family,

As a rule, I do not post the same thing on all my blogs. However, due to the urgency I feel in sharing this message, I have decided to make an exception. Please forgive my redundancy.

My sweet husband has been sharing the phrase found in this blog title with me for quite some time. He is so smart! On this Sabbath day of rest, I have time to reflect on this. I have been engaged in a college course that helps you with strategy. Plan your work and work your plan! This phrase is used frequently. I am also reading a book by John Edmund Haggai. Here is a summary of what I am learning from these three sources about scheduling ie. Plan your work and work your plan!

Some of the suggestions I have compiled for accomplishing a working plan are as follows:

Rise early in the morning for your quiet time with the Lord. This should include prayer, Bible study and a time of quiet reflection to hear the Lord’s voice. Without all three of these elements, we can become unbalanced in our lives.

With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, make a list of the things you need to accomplish for the day.

Incorporate these things into your schedule for the day. Ideally, you already have a weekly skeletal schedule in place, so that appointments etc. can easily be inserted as neccesary. If not, take the time to create one.

Ask the Lord for the wisdom to plan your work and then ask Him for the grace to work your plan.

As you work through your list for the day, check these things off. At the end of the day, take time to contemplate the sense of satisfaction that comes from successfully completed tasks.

Mr. Haggai teaches us that “scheduling defeats frenzy and hurry by bringing regularity into our lifestyle and by imposing order on what may othewise be a chaotic, moment-to-moment existence. “ He says that ” Hurry is symptomatic of a weakly organized mind. Without scheduling and organization you will move fast and make mistakes and that will lead to discouragement and tension.”

Remember that “The Lord gives us the time to do everything He expects us to do. We have an obligation and a privilege to utilize these God-given resources so that His will for us may be fulfilled. And in turn ,that fulfillment honors Him and dispels anxiety. God help us to live in such a way as our Lord while yet on earth was able to do- so that we can say, “I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do” (John 17:4b)”.

All quotes are from John Edmund Haggai :How To Win Over Worry”.

It appears that I have much room for improvement in the area of scheduling. I am grateful and humbled that God would be so kind and gracious as to point this out and teach me how to be victorious in this area of my life.

There are many other areas concerning daily living that I am studying. I will share these with you as the Lord leads.

May the Lord bless you teach you His ways!

First produce Summer Garden 2010

This is the first produce of the season. I left the zuchinni on the vine too long. This came out of the farm garden which is 20 miles away from where I live. I am concerned about my cucumbers here in the Victory garden. Many of my pepper plants did not survive. I am praying the remaining ones are extra fruitful. The spaghetti squash has pulled down a few of my corn plants. Does anyone know how to tell when spaghetti squash is ripe? This is my first year growing it.

Everything else looks good. I need to hoe, weed and fertilize both gardens.

Good night, God bless you all!

The State of The Gardens

Good morning Family and Friends,
The Lord changed my plans yesterday as I made a dairy run not to Georgia but to South Alabama. And not on Tuesday but on Monday afternoon. He is our God and He has that right you know. I was really glad on both counts. Now we get to Buy Alabama and my turn is over for 6 months. God is Good!

The gardens are coming along nicely in both places. It is rather tricky at times to have two gardens 18 miles apart........

I have been wanting to try growing sorgham for awhile. When M(Baby Bear) planted some at the farm, we did not know if it would even come up. You see, it was last years seed. I bought it from Baker Creek and then did not have room in the Victory Garden for it. But it did come up.....all of it. Now we have to figure out what to do with it. We even have to figure out if we planted enough to do anything at all with it.

In the Victory Garden:
The grass has to be reclaimed from one corner :)
The cucumbers are blooming
One volanteer tomato plant is blooming
The mystery plants(tomatilla I think) are blooming
The green beans are recovering from a rabbit attack and climbing their trellis
There are about 20 tomato plants still needing cages
The string fence still needs to go up to keep the neighbors bull dog(huge feet) out of my garden!!!!!!
I have been harvesting some of the garlic
All the other kinds of vegetable plants are looking good so far

In the Farm Garden:
6 of the beds need to be weeded
The new pan squash is growing huge! It is really pretty with green and white leaves(first time growing)

The corn is about 2 to 3 feet tall
The sorgham is about 2 feet tall
The peas are nice and green(last years seed)
The spaghetti squash plants are growing nicely among the corn(first time growing)
I forgot to check to see if the okra came up(last years seed again)
There are at least 25 tomato plants that need cages probably more.I have to plant enough for the horned tomato worms in case they attack again. One worm can take down a huge tomato plant in one night. Gardening organically has its challenges you know.
The green beans need to be trellised 2 WEEKS AGO! It will be interesting to train them up the strings now.

It is now time to fertilize both gardens again. This is the sign of aries so it is a good time to kill weeds as it is a dead sign.
All the other vegetable plants are looking good. I have planted 7 or 8 different kinds of pepper. Several of these are new to me and some are old favorites. We love peppers and I hope they produce prolifically.

I have lost a few plants this year after starting from seed and putting in the Victory Garden. I am unsure what happened except I keep finding huge paw prints out there. Time for a fence, right?

I have herb starts that need to go in the herb garden. And I have huckleberry and wonderberry plants that need to go in the Victory garden and Farm Garden. I am out of space so I will have to make some somewhere.

I am getting a late start this morning as I got in extremely late last night from the dairy. I am headed to my prayer spot and then to the Victory garden. Later this evening, God willing I will head to the Farm Garden with Hubby.

May the Good Lord bless you and keep you. And don't forget to ask God for His direction. Believe me, you never know what is coming next. You simply can not afford to pilot your own ship. God knows best and He knows everything. He loves you very much and He will hear our cries! He deserves our attention!

Change of Plans

You just never know what God has next for you.....

Today, I did have quiet time with God. Then I hoed and weeded in my Suburbia garden. I then found out I needed to go to the farm for milk today as the farmer wouldnt be there in the morning. I quickly made arrangements to leave this afternoon. We had a blast and I am glad my turn is over for another 6 months. This also meant canceling the appointment with the internet tech. I did not make it to the farm garden as I was 2 1/2 hours south of here enjoying a dairy farm.

Man can plan but God orders the steps of a good man.

Be blessed everyone!

My Kick off Post

Hello all my fellow bloggers. I have decided to post here as well as HSB. I would like to be able to keep up with all my friends that have left.

Today I have been in the gardens. I started out in the Suburbia garden, Hubby worked in the yard and caged tomatoes while I transplanted 41 plants. He finished in time to help with the last few, which made it go much faster. :) I am so glad he was available to help with carrying everything since my shoulder/arm/neck is still affecting me.

After that we showered and went into town to do some grocery shopping. Then we headed to the farm garden. We transplanted more plants, caged some tomatoes and did some weeding.

We are home now and my daughter and her friend are cooking supper. I am just too exhausted as we literally worked from the time we got up until sundown. I am very happy to have so much accomplished though.

I plan to get up at 5:30 a.m., have my time with the Good Lord and then head out to the garden. During the heat of the day, I plan to do some housework and laundry. After that, I plan to go to the farm garden and work. With all this rain the Lord has blessed us with, the weeds are growing fast. The gardens look great after all the rain and I feel truly blessed by the Lord.

Our Great God is worthy of praise. He has delivered us! May we never forget it!

Blessings to you all!
