Camping Where the Farmhouse Used To Be

We spent the better part of a 4 day memorial week end at what used to be the farmhouse. We camped out. When I say we camped..I mean primitive camping. For there is no bathroom. The only toilet facility we have there is a shovel. :) I also used this same shovel to kill a snake Sunday morning. I am not sure what kind it was but it is now the dead kind.
We finally have a temp power pole up but it is not hooked up to anything so we did not have electricity. We kept the tent covers off and I fell asleep gazing at the beautiful heavens the Lord created. The stars were so bright and there were gazillions of them. Everyone should sleep on the ground occasionally. :)

We worked very, very hard. This new work out program(tornado restructuring project) is giving me muscles like a lumber jack. I am stronger than I have been in a long time. There are more trees down than I can count. My friends Starr and Jayla camped with us and worked very, very hard. I have been so blessed to be back in touch with Starr. We have been friends since 1994 but had lost touch. She drove up right after the tornado happened to check on us and she has stuck by my side ever since. She has really worked hard physically and has supported me emotionally. I just feel so loved. I have had other friends, such as my long time friend Lalonni and her family stop by to help, call and offer general support. All this says to me "I love you". My Daddy and brother have been like glue.

Here are a couple of pictures. These are before and after the tornado. This is just a small section of what we call "the field".

Soaker Hoses Working Well

This is corn from last year or the year before. I do not have a picture of this years corn but maybe tomorrow when the sun is out I will take time to snap a few.

Alas, I have grown weary of blogging about the destruction. I want to talk about something I enjoy....something pretty. This brings to mind my corn. Most people probably do not consider corn to be pretty. However, I was raised on country sunshine and I think it is beautiful.

The soaker hoses are working so well my corn is barely noticing the lack of rain in our area.
In the midst of all the tornado disaster I have had precious little time for my up and coming vegetable crops. They do not seem to have noticed. I have watered thoroughly once weekly and they are thriving. God is so good to me.

It is now time er..... past time for trellising the green beans. I have some tomato seedlings ready to be planted out and am watching the little pepper seedlings as they take their sweet time about it.

I have some tomato plants in pots that seems to be doing quite well. One even has a few green tomatoes on it. The garlic is ready to be harvested and the chamomile succumbed to the heat after allowing me to make a tincture. Hopefully it will re seed and come back next year. All my other herb plants are doing well and I intend to get some basil planted this week. A couple of my first time herbs this year are motherwort, stevia and bee balm. I tried bee balm last year to no avail but this year I cheated a little and bought a plant. :)

I love the spring and summertime!

Praise God for all His blessings!

Photo One of Tornado Damage at our Farmhouse

The corner of the house is where those men are standing. This was after we cut the trees off that corner. Notice the eaves of the roof are touching the ground. There is a carport under the trees there too. Everywhere you see blue sky used to be huge trees. There was no skyline. The front part that is cleared is after we cut our way to the house. Notice the metal siding hanging from the tree on the left. When we first saw it, we had to follow a path down the road. There were so many fallen trees we couldnt see over them. We couldnt find the driveway. When we finally found it we couldnt even crawl up the driveway. Then after finding a way to walk in through the hole the firemen cut we couldn't find the house.

Please pray for us. This has been really hard on me and my daughters although we are profoundly grateful to God for saving all our lives. Blessed be His holy name forever and ever!@

Still In The Throes

Good evening ladies.
We are still in the throes of this disaster. It is painful and there are so many things to do.
I don't know how people get through these things without a close relationship with God. God has been so faithful to provide for our every need very bountifully. We are so very grateful.

I am so blessed by the hard work and support of my Daddy, my brother and my friend Starr. They have just been right there for me. I am so grateful. Of course it goes without saying that the tribe (household) has stuck together. :)

We are safe and warm and full. We are indeed a blessed family.

Blessed be the name of the Lord,

Working through the Emotions

I want to share it with you. I just can't do it yet.
I am still here. I am working hard physically and emotionally. Through it all I am praising and thanking my God for his protection and blessings. His goodness and grace is overwhelming. It is more thans sufficient.

You really find out who you can count on when something like this happens. Besides my immediate family(daughters , husband etc.) My daddy, my brother and my friend Starr have just really been by my side. I am so grateful to God for them.

Blessed be the name of the Lord God of Israel!!!
